Independent Direct Sellers Discuss Their Businesses with Lawmakers and Urge Them to Protect Their Independent Work Status during the Direct Selling Association’s Capitol Hill Day

Direct sellers across the nation share their stories of entrepreneurial success and voice concerns about legislative challenges and regulatory threats

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Last week, the Direct Selling Association, the national trade association for direct selling companies, hosted its annual Direct Selling Day on Capitol Hill for independent direct sellers throughout the United States.

Almost 100 direct sellers and executives representing 14 DSA member companies met with over 70 Members of Congress’s offices to discuss the direct selling channel as a low-risk path to entrepreneurship. They emphasized the importance of legislative protections for independent workers and how other regulations impact the business.

Mariano, DSA President, and Chief Executive Officer.

In 2023, direct selling took place across the United States, generating $36.7 billion in retail sales and 6.1 million entrepreneurs in the U.S. sold products or services through the direct selling channel, providing a personalized buying experience for 37.7 million customers.
