Member Companies Emphasize Ethics in Corporate Behavior

June 17, 2011

Thirty-one DSA member companies were recognized during the association’s 2011 Annual Meeting for their participation in DSA's Code of Ethics Communication Initiative. The recognition was based on activities completed by each company from March 2010 through March 2011.

Created in 2008 to give special credit to those companies that particularly prize their ethical business practices, the Code of Ethics Communication Initiative not only recognizes those companies fulfilling the necessary criteria, but also encourages other companies not doing so to push themselves, their employees and their field to take the extra steps necessary to bring greater emphasis to the Code.

Those companies that were recognized this year for their activities are as follows:

  • ACN, Inc.
  • AdvoCare International, LP
  • Arbonne International, LLC
  • Avon Products, Inc.
  • Conklin Company, Inc.
  • CUTCO/Vector Marketing Corp.

About the Direct Selling Association

DSA is the national trade association of the leading firms that manufacture and distribute goods and services sold directly to consumers. Among its more than 220 active and pending members are companies selling both via a party-plan method and in the traditional person-to-person style. In 2007, U.S. direct sales were more than $30.8 billion with more than 15 million direct sellers nationwide. The vast majority are independent business people – micro-entrepreneurs – whose purpose is to sell the product/service of the company they voluntarily choose to represent. Approximately 90 percent of direct sellers operate their business part-time.
