About DSA

Who We Are

The Direct Selling Association is comprised of companies that bring products and services to consumers through independent sellers.

Direct selling is built on relationships: people sharing products they know, building their own customer connections, and choosing how and when they engage. DSA exists to support that channel and the companies committed to doing it responsibly.

Our member companies agree to follow the DSA Code of Ethics, which sets standards designed to protect consumers and independent sellers. That commitment helps build trust with consumers, policymakers, and regulators.

What We Do

DSA helps policymakers understand how direct selling works and why independent participation matters.

We work with lawmakers, regulators, and coalition partners at the federal and state levels to support clear rules, preserve the right of direct sellers to choose to participate as independent contractors, and make sure responsible direct selling companies are understood.

Advocacy is only part of the work: DSA also brings member companies together to learn, share ideas, and prepare for what is changing across the channel.

Through conferences, DirectTalks, DSEF Insights, and other programs, DSA gives leaders practical insight into the issues shaping direct selling, from technology and social commerce to tariffs, data, consumer trust, and responsible growth.

Self-Regulation

DSA supports independent self-regulation through the Direct Selling Self-Regulatory Council, administered by BBB National Programs.

Created in 2019, DSSRC monitors product claims and earnings representations in the direct selling marketplace. Its work helps strengthen trust and reinforces the responsible practices DSA member companies are expected to uphold.

DSA’s Mission

As the collective voice of the visionaries, entrepreneurs, and innovators comprising the most powerful, people-driven distribution channel in the world, DSA’s mission is to advance a policy and regulatory environment that embraces innovation, protects consumers, and empowers entrepreneurs across America and the globe to build businesses on their own terms.
